Does luxury vinyl tile have to be grouted?

Does luxury vinyl tile have to be grouted?

No, it doesn't have to be since the grout lines are built into the tile. However, some will use grout anyway for visual appeal because it's now considered a design tool available in an extensive color palette. If you decide to use grout, keep in mind that not all vinyl tiles are groutable, so check, and be sure you use the right kind of grout.

What is a luxury vinyl tile?

Also referred to as LVT floors, this is a version of luxury vinyl (LVF), cut into squares to be true-to-life echoes of tile or stone. Unlike ceramic or porcelain tiles, which need grouting to fill in the spaces between them, LVT is designed to be completely waterproof. There are no gaps, whether the installation technique is glue-down or the click-and-lock of a floating floor. You might also see luxury vinyl plank or LVP floors. This is another cut, this time to mimic hardwood boards.

Trending wood look floors

One of the most significant benefits is the realistic style of these floors. Images are taken with digital photography, so they're clear and vibrant with raised grains, swirls, and knots. There is also micro beveling and embossing to add depth, dimension, and textured features such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered and distressed; it should be noted that textures are a big trend also this year. Available in matte, gloss, and high gloss colors, these floors look like genuine wood, but you won't pay nearly the same price as you would for the real thing.

They are durable, multi-layered with a thick clear top coating to protect the floor from scratches and scuffs. It's also low maintenance, requiring sweeping or mopping, but please avoid waxy, shine-promoting products as they can damage the finish and dull the floor.
